AWS Data Centers: delimiting restricted areas across three countries

A data centre has no public: it has authorised staff and staff who are not. Delimitation there is not about ordering a queue, it is about making clear where one zone ends and another begins — and doing it in a way that can be moved, because works and maintenance shift those boundaries every few weeks. The installation for AWS consisted of stanchions with a custom belt delimiting restricted areas in data centres in Spain, Germany and France.

The stanchions belong to the Dlimit collection, the brand’s premium range: stainless steel base, a head with our own patented soft-brake mechanism and a belt with silent retraction. It is the range we recommend when an installation has to stay in service for a decade with no scheduled maintenance, and the one we keep interchangeable across families: head and belt are shared, so a spare part fits units bought years apart.

The belt was made to order with the wording “AWS” printed in CMYK dye sublimation. It is not a sticker or a screen print laid on top: the ink is bonded into the fibre, so the lettering neither wears away as the belt retracts nor fades under light. It is the same process we apply from the very first unit, with no tooling cost and no minimum run.

That the same element is installed in three countries under the same reference and the same spare part is not a minor detail when the operator is the same. A replacement order from Frankfurt and one from Madrid leave the same plant, with the same belt batch and the same head unit.
